Man Charged For Assaulting Officer

Saugeen Shores Police have arrested a man after a fight outside a Port Elgin bar.

Saugeen Shores Police have arrested and charged a 22 year old Port Elgin man after he allegedly assaulted an officer.

Police say at about 2 last Sunday morning they were called to a fight outside a Port Elgin bar.

Police say they intervened and restrained one of the men fighting on the ground.

But while arresting him, they say another man grabbed the arresting officer and hit him before running off.

Another officer located that man running from the scene a few blocks away.

They say he refused to stop.

The officer got out of their car and tried to arrest the man who resisted but was eventually taken into custody with the help of another officer.

The 22 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
1. Causing a disturbance while fighting
2. Assaulting a Police Officer
3. Resisting arrest

He was released with a future court date.
