Local Netminder Scores Win for Rangers

Owen Sound native Lucas Pfeil made 25 saves in Kitchener's 6-1 victory over the Attack.

A rough start for the Owen Sound Attack.

They fell 6-2 to the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday night.

The Rangers got off to a huge start scoring five times in the first period, four on Attack goaltender Andrew MacLean (9 saves).

Ryan Stepien (1 goal, 1 assist) and Isaac Langdon scored 25 seconds apart, then Jonathan Yantis (2 goals, 1 assist) would scored his first of two 2:30 later for a 3-0 Kitchener lead.

Kevin Hancock (1 goal, 1 assist) would get Owen Sound on the board with his 28th goal of the season late in the second period.

Hancock has 243 points in his OHL career putting him 8th all-time in franchise history.

Jackson Doherty had the other Attack (19-13-1-2) goal.

Owen Sound native Lucas Pfeil (file) made 25 saves in the win for the Rangers (15-17-3-0).

Mack Guzda came in relief of MacLean at the 13:36 mark of the first period and stopped 22 shots the rest of the way.

Kitchener finished 1-for-2 on the power play, Owen Sound were 1-for-4.

The next game for the Attack is Monday night when they travel to Barrie to play the Colts.
