Two first-time members of Goderich Council are settling into their new jobs, after being elected in October.
Stephen Tamming and Shawn Thomson were sworn in early this month, and attended their first working Council meeting on December 10th.
Shortly after he was sworn in, Tamming told Country 104.9 News that he is humbled by his election, and thankful to voters.
Tamming tells us he's looking at a steep learning curve as a member of Council, and he expects to be up to speed within six months to a year.
He says he'll seek guidance from veteran Councillors, as he makes his way through committee work.
Tamming's priorities for his four-year term are affordable housing and economic development.
He believes the two issues are linked, as Goderich tries to attract and retain new workers and their families.
Tamming stresses further development of the harbour and downtown core as key economic issues for Council to address between now and 2022.
