Honda Cancels Overtime Shift in Alliston

Alliston | by Jill Young

The Saturday shift at Honda Alliston has been cancelled for now, due to lowered market demand.

Honda in Alliston is ending its overtime shift - for now.

The plant won't have the Saturday shift running for the next while, affecting weekend work at supplier plants too - like KTH.

In a written statement, Communications Supervisor with Honda Canada Laura Heasman says Honda has always worked carefully to align its North American production output with market demand across the region.

She says based on the current market conditions, and existing inventories in the U.S. dealer network, they've determined production overtime is not necessary.

As a result, scheduled overtime at some of the North American facilities has been cancelled.

There's word it could last a few months.
