Over 50 delegates attended the third annual municipal forum, hosted by the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation.
Officials from Sarnia to Tobermory heard from conservationists regarding invasive species, coastal erosion, balancing development with conservation, and protecting and restoring coastal woodlands, wetlands, and river mouths.
Coastal Stewardship Coordinator Daniela Klicper says municipal officials shared some of their initiatives designed to preserve coastal ecosystems and shorelines.
Those include stewardship programs, and best management practices.
Klicper says the forum is one of the Lake Huron Centre's biggest opportunity's to discuss their ongoing Coastal Action Plan with affected communities, and for officials to have their input.
The plan will help municipalities identify coastal priorities, and how to approach their protection and conservation.
