Welding Training Coming To Goderich

Ironworkers Local 736 picks up funds from Ottawa for welder training project.

Skilled tradespeople in Goderich are getting a boost from the federal government.

Ottawa has announced $285 thousand in funding to the Ironworkers Local 736 for its "Welder Training and Testing Capacity Increase" project.

The funding will help the union purchase equipment, including a mobile welding training trailer, several welding machines, and a floor press, to train apprentices from key groups who face barriers, such as women, Indigenous people and newcomers.

Training will be conducted in Goderich, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Welland, Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Ingersoll.
