There is a new development in Owen Sound for those who need supportive housing.
A ceremony was held on Friday to unveil a new 6-unit complex on 3rd Avenue East.
Executive Director of Community Living Owen Sound and District Rick Hill says there were representatives from levels of government that put in the funding.
He says representatives from the City of Owen Sound were also on hand for the ribbon cutting.
The building cost $892,500 to construct.
Hill says they were able to leverage a proposal to Grey County on the project that would see them maintain the rent at an affordable level until 2039.
He says they did needed help to finance it but everything came together in the end.
The rent is set for $500 a month plus hydro.
Hill says the people they support rely on Ontario Disability Support payments which is not much to get by.
He says the need for affordable supportive housing units in Owen Sound is high.
