Health Unit Expands Inspection Report Disclosure Service

Grey Bruce | by Matt Hermiz

Check-It! now includes personal service settings, children's recreational camps and tanning facilities

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has expanded its public health inspection online disclosure service.

Public Health Manager Angela Newman says inspection reports are now available for food premises, pools, hot tubs, personal service settings, children's recreational camps, small drinking water systems and tanning facilities.

"Generally, I think more people are becoming interested in the inspection findings and asking questions about the places they visit or services they utilize," Newman says. "Having access in a timely manner to that information is important."

She says Check It! launched two years ago and originally only included inspection findings from food premises -- such as restaurants and grocery stores.

The Health Unit says operators are required to post a card informing that inspection results are available through Check It!.
