This year's edition of the 98 the Beach Radiothon to raise money for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF), will have something different coming from the kids.
A road hockey game is scheduled for Thursday, December 13th on the basketball court behind 98 the Beach in the park on Waterloo Street.
Organizer Amanda Froese says the game will be between the Peewee Girls House League team and the Peewee Boys Local League #2 team.
Weather permitting, the game will get underway at 4:30pm, while the Radiothon is continuing inside the station.
Froese says donations can be made to support the kids by calling 519-832-GIVE (4483) on the day of the Radiothon and make sure you mention to the operators that it's in support of the hockey game.
The kids are also taking pledges from family and friends.
Online donations can be done at: lightthewaycampaign.ca (you can make it a gift to Peewee Hockey, so we can tally the money raised).
All monies raised will go to the SMHF and the kids will be on air on 98 the Beach after the game, to report in.
People are invited to come out and cheer on the teams.
There's parking in the 98 the Beach parking lot, behind the station.
Froese says besides raising funds for the hospital, the kids are going after a bigger prize too and the hospital will be the better for it.
The event and the fundraiser is part of the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
Should the local kids win, Chevrolet would donate $100,000 to the charity of their choice and they would be featured on Hockey Night in Canada.
Froese indicates the charity would be the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, so it's imperative that everyone support the kids with a ton of money and make sure you show up for the game because they want a big crowd there should the game get featured on Hockey Night in Canada.
Again, the road hockey game on the basketball court behind 98 the Beach is scheduled for 4:30pm on Thursday December 13th, during the 3rd annual Radiothon, raising funds for the Light the Way campaign.
