A man suspected to be distributing the dangerous drug purple fentanyl in Grey Bruce has been arrested.
Saugeen Shores Police say a 42-year-old Kitchener man was brought into custody early Sunday morning on a number of drug trafficking related offences.
Just before 4 a.m., officers were investigating an unrelated incident when they came in contact with a man at a convenience store in Port Elgin.
Police say a foot chase ensued, but the male suspect was caught by officers and arrested shortly after.
Police seized a number of controlled substances including hydromorphone, oxycodone, heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.
Police say one of those substances is suspected to be purple fentanyl, which is believed to be the cause of several overdoses in Grey and Bruce Counties.
The 42-year-old man was remanded into custody on a slew of drug-trafficking related charges pending a bail hearing in Walkerton court.
