Opening Of New Stayner Library Delayed

Stayner | by Catherine Thompson

Book September 2019 rather than next June.

There is a new projected date for the completion of the new Stayner Library.

It was originally to be done by June of 2019 but Clearview Township CAO Steve Sage says it will now be September of next year.

Sage says delays meant the loss of about 14 weeks of work. He says that's because of a cash flow problem with the contractor which is a well know fact.

Sage adds that the bonding company now representing the contractor is guaranteeing all projects.

The Chief Administrative Officer tells us the contractor is working really hard inside, on the community centre side of the building, to have it open for public use by April instead of May.

Steve Sage says if you drive by you may not see a lot of activity outside, but there is a lot of work going on inside the facility that also houses the arena.

He adds that the steel erection for the structure will be up by mid-December.

Sage says even though the project is behind schedule by three months, it is so far on budget which is 3.84 million dollars.
