A Collingwood woman is hiking home from Mexico to raise awareness of an important issue.
57 year old Linda Murphy is currently training to hike over 42 hundred kilometres (4279) along the Pacific Crest Trail to raise money to help women fleeing domestic violence.
Murphy is an avid long distance hiker, but says she didn't want to do this just for herself, she wanted it to benefit those in need.
She adds knowing this will keep her going during the tough times of the six month hike.
Her fundraising goal is ten thousand dollars and she has already raised over six thousand.
Murphy wants to donate half to My Friend's House in Collingwood and the other half to violence prevention programs across Canada.
She will make her journey from March to September 2019.
