Shelburne Bids Farewell to Longtime Business

Holmes Appliances and Music Shop is closing as owners Greg and Heather Holmes get ready to retire.

Shelburne is saying goodbye to a long standing business.

Holmes Appliances and Music Shop is closing up as owners Greg and Heather Holmes get ready for retirement.

Holmes took over the business from his father back in 1987, which began selling farm equipment.

For the last 31.5 years it's been mattresses then appliances, and also evolved to include musical instruments, something that is Greg's passion.

Greg says it's time to retire and enjoy life, adding that they have some grandchildren now they'd like to spend time with, and travelling to do.

He says neither of his children wanted to take over the family business, so they've decided to sell off what they have, as well as the building, which is currently for sale on Main Street.

Holmes says they've had such wonderful support from the community, and now it's time to move on.

The store will close at the end of December.
