New Shelburne Council Sworn-In

Shelburne | by Phil DeLand

Mayor Wade Mills says the first meeting was short and a good way to get the new councillors set up.

The change in council is reflective of the change in the town.

Shelburne's new council members were sworn-in ahead of last night's meeting.

In a speech prior to the meeting, Mayor Wade Mills said now more than ever council needs to stand together along with the entire town.

Mills said following the meeting that it went according to plan, and that he plans to have sessions with the new council members prior to each of the next few meetings to help them ease into their positions.

The new Deputy Mayor Steve Anderson wasn't able to attend the meeting due to a trip to see family that was planned months ago.

Mills said he recorded a video speech to welcome the new councillors to the table that he's excited to work with them.

This was the first meeting of the new council but the last of the year.

The next meeting is scheduled for early in the new year.
