The Port Elgin Library is Celebrating a Birthday, and You're Invited!

Saugeen Shores | by Travis Jackson

Learn the history behind one of the oldest buildings in town on Saturday, December 1st.

The Friends of Port Elgin Branch Library invite everyone to explore the 110-year history of the building at a ''birthday'' celebration, Saturday, December 1st from 1pm until 4pm.

Come and see displays that will show what the library and businesses in the neighbourhood looked like over a century ago.

The Friends will offer children an opportunity to take part in a guessing contest the same as a nearby jeweller held in 1908.

It will be a time for library users to share memories and birthday cake too.

The library has served the community in many ways over the last 100 years. The building once served as a hotel, a place to get your driver's license, and more!

Come learn about your local library and have fun while doing it. There are many more interesting bits of the library's story to discover!
