Health officials in Huron County are reminding you take advantage of your free seasonal flu shot.
The Huron County Health Unit says several long-term care facilities experienced higher-than-normal outbreaks of the flu last year.
In seniors and people with chronic health problems, such as lung or heart disease or diabetes, flu can lead to complications such as pneumonia.
Health unit officials say 64 cases of lab-confirmed flu were documented in Huron County during the previous flu season.
The cases also follow provincial regulation changes, which only count cases detected in long-term care homes, or Intensive Care Units were patients were being treated.
As for the effectiveness of this year's flu vaccine, health officials say it is hard to tell.
Reports for the previous flu season found the vaccine was 10 to 20 per cent effective in fighting the H3N2 strain.
