Police Warn to Watch for Drunk Drivers After Two Recent Incidents.

A 23-year-old Arran-Elderslie woman, and 55-year-old Kincardine man have been charged in separate cases.

The Saugeen Shores Police Service would like to remind people that impaired related occurrences happen at any hour of the day. 

They are asking you to keep an eye out for anyone breaking the law after a few recent incidents that resulted in arrests.

Yesterday (Monday, October 29th) at around 12:30pm, an off-duty Saugeen Shores Auxiliary Constable and other witnesses observed a man, who was suspected to be intoxicated, in the LCBO in Port Elgin purchasing alcohol. 

Witnesses observed the man get into a vehicle and drive to the nearby Circle-K convenience store. 

On duty officers attended and located the man who was pointed out by the Auxiliary Constable. A roadside breath test was administered resulting in a fail. The man was arrested and transported to the station for further tests.

A 55-year-old Kincardine resident has been charged with drunk driving over 80mgs.

In another case, on Sunday (October 28th) at 7am, officers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Albert Street South in Southampton. 

Officers arrived on scene and located a heavily damaged 2005 Kia that had collided with and destroyed a Hydro Pole. 

Bystanders pointed out a person who was operating the vehicle when the collision occurred. Officers noticed the driver was drunk and they say a breathalyzer test proved it.

A 23-year-old Arran-Elderslie woman was been charged with drunk driving over 80mgs. 

In addition to the criminal charge the woman was also charged with Novice Driver with a Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance.
