Ron (Huck) Schnurr

South Bruce | by Travis Jackson

Candidate for South Bruce Councillor At Large

1/  Are you in favour of bricks-and-mortar cannabis stores in your municipality? Why or why not?

<<No Response>>

2/ What are your plans for future economic development strategies? with the Bruce Power extending its operating life for decades, an influx of new residents are expected in the region. How will we accommodate them?

We have one developer with a residential development in one of our communities and the same developer will have building lots available in another one of our communities in the spring of 2019 and there is also another residential subdivision in the works in that same community. As far as the industrial land there is very little but we are looking  at options to weather to purchase land or to let the developers do it .

3/ With prosperity, comes hardship. Many local businesses are concerned that they do not have enough employees to sustain their businesses because of the many high paying jobs that exist in the region combined with the low unemployment rate. How do we make local businesses sustainable, in your opinion?

As you know times have changed as far as work ethics go years ago if you wanted something you were happy to get a job and worked at that one until you found another one. I personally think there is a lot more people looking for a pay check than what there is looking for work. I have talked to other employers and they all say people don`t want to WORK. I am not saying someday there might be a shortage of workers but I don`t believe we are right now. It has been proven that once the baby boomers leave the work force it takes more employees to do the same jobs.
