West Grey Candidate Q & A

West Grey | by Robyn Garvey

Bayshore Broadcasting asked municipal candidates where they stand on some key issues

To help inform you on the platforms of candidates running for mayor and council in the upcoming municipal election, Bayshore Broadcasting News reached out to all those seeking office in municipalities across Grey and Bruce counties.

In West Grey, all candidates except Geoffrey Shea, Stephen Townsend, Jeff White and David Wilde provided responses to a series of questions posed by Bayshore Broadcasting News.

You can access the answers provided by each candidate by clicking on his or her name below.

Here are the questions we asked:

1) Aging infrastructure is a reality in West Grey.  With 105 bridges and culverts (over 3 metres) and over 750 km’s of roads, how would you address the financial challenge of keeping up with West Grey’s aging infrastructure needs?  Could this mean future bridge or road closures?

2) During the All Candidates Meeting it was noted that there is a labour shortage in West Grey.  It was also pointed out that many local jobs are not high paying.  What role could West Grey play in youth retention and the attraction of higher paying jobs to the area?

3) Would you support allowing a cannabis retail operation to set up shop in West Grey?
