Brockton | by Robyn Garvey

Brockton Councillor Candidate

1) What can Brockton do to promote economic growth and youth retention?

We need to try to find small technology companies rather then large manufactures to locate in the community. We should be using the Water Centre as the starting point of the search.

2) Should Brockton provide the same services in its rural villages and hamlets as it does in Walkerton?  (sidewalk snow clearing, flowers along the main street etc.)  If so can Brockton afford this cost?

I am not fully up on the budget as I have not been involved in past council budget planning. It would be helpful to supply sidewalk snow clearing (safety) and flowers to improve marketing of the municipality in the villages and hamlet. However the municipality cannot afford to have the same level of services such as arenas and libraries in every community. Walkerton as having approximately 50% of the population will always be the centre for most single item services.

3) Would you support allowing a cannabis retail operation to set up shop in Brockton?

Those that want to use a legal product will find it. It would be better for Brockton to allow a store under municipal regulations on were it can be located and hours of operation.
