Nothern Bruce Peninsula Candidate Q & A Municipal Election 2018

1/ Do you support Bricks-and-mortar marijuana stores in your municipality? Why? Why not?
No I would not support bricks and mortar marijuana stores in our municipality.  There are a lot of questions that I do not have answers for at this point.  Until I have those answers, we see how this rolls out, and have a chance as council to have discussions on the pro and cons, I would not be in support.  There would always the opportunity to support marijuana stores at a later date.

2/What would be your main priority if elected to council?
I have two main priorities if elected to council.  The first one would be to put some regulations in place for short term rentals.  This issue has become a huge problem in our municipality and I do not think it’s a good idea to turn a blind eye any longer.  Second would be to address some issues in our Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw and once that is complete, get it passed.

3/How to you plan to address growth in some parts of the municipality while also handling the tourism influx in the area?

I believe we need to start working on creating a long term vision.  We can no longer just deal with things as they are put in front of us.  The municipality needs to find a balance between the residents enjoyment and the massive influx of tourists.  We also need to find the healthy balance between development and growth and the environment.  I see our environment as very important as it is what makes us who we are.  A world Biosphere.
