Man Falls Out of Window After Confrontation with Police

SIU is investigating circumstances after a 30-year-old man barricaded himself in an apartment unit.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit are looking into the circumstances surrounding a man who suffered serious injuries in Collingwood.

Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP were called to an apartment complex on Ontario Street Monday morning around 8:30 about a man barricading himself inside an apartment unit.

Officers made several attempts to have the man come out his apartment but he refused to leave.

Three hours later. tactical units entered the unit using a cherry picker to gain entry through the apartment window and through the front door of the unit.

Officers fired plastic projectiles at the man and he later fell out of the window and down to the ground.

The 30-year-old was taken to Collingwood General and Marine before being transferred to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

SIU investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Ontario Special Investigations Unit.
