You may hear some loud blasts and explosions in the Meaford area over the next two weeks.
The Department of National Defence says Canadian Armed Forces will be conducting military exercises at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford from Oct. 5-19.
Troops will conduct exercise Ardent Defender, a joint counter-explosive threat exercise.
The Department of National Defence advises those near the Meaford training centre will periodically hear loud explosions between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. throughout the exercise.
Residents may also see military personnel, vehicles and equipment from the CAF and international militaries invited to take part in the training event.
This year’s exercise will include a two-day scenario on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11 in Meaford, giving city preparedness officials, police agencies and first responders an opportunity to work with the CAF in a realistic training environment.
The Department of National Defence says the purpose of this annual exercise is to hone the skills of Canadian and international explosive ordnance disposal and improvised explosive device defeat operators.
