Annual Terry Fox Run Sunday

Grey Bruce | by Travis Jackson

Fundraising goal of $10,000 in Owen Sound

Nearly a dozen Grey-Bruce communities will be helping to raise money for the ongoing fight against cancer at the 38th annual Terry Fox Run, which takes place in over 9,000 Canadian communities on Sunday.

The Terry Fox Run has raised more than 750 million dollars worldwide since Terry began his Marathon of Hope in 1980.

Terry Fox Runs in Grey-Bruce will take place in: Durham, Hanover, Kincardine, Lion's Head, Lucknow, Meaford, Owen Sound, Port Elgin, Tobermory, Walkerton, and Wiarton.

In Owen Sound, the Terry Fox Run will be held at Harrison Park with registration set for 9 a.m. and the run underway at 10 a.m.

Ann Vos is heading up the run in Owen Sound this year, after longtime organizers Scott and Tracy Grieg stepped aside following the 2017 event.

Vos says it was an easy decision for her to get involved.

"It's very dear to my heart," she says. "I didn't want to see it go."
