Some Work Resumes On Sydenham Condo In Owen Sound

Owen Sound | by Kevin Bernard

A stop work order could soon be lifted completely on the $10 million condo project.

You may have noticed some activity around the Sydenham condo project in downtown Owen Sound.

The site has been under a "stop work order" from the city for 4 months, although it was partially removed to allow some work to go ahead.

City Manager Wayne Ritchie tells Bayshore Broadcasting news that most of the 5th floor is now completed and work is underway on the 4th floor of the development.

Ritchie says inspectors are on site often and adds if the project continues to move forward as it has in recent days, the "stop work order" may be removed completely soon.

He says the city is hopeful all the concerns can be quickly addressed so the 10 million dollar project can go ahead quickly.

There will be 36 suites in the building when it is finished.

The Sydenham has been under construction for nearly 4 years.
