Arrests In Thefts From Cars In Owen Sound

One adult and two youths have been arrested.

Owen Sound police have arrested one adult and two youths after a month of vehicle break -ins in the upper east side of the city.

Police say on Wednesday evening, police, including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Drug and Intelligence Units conducted observations within the city directed at theft from motor vehicles.  

Police say it's a response to an increase in calls for service relating to the theft from vehicles.

They say they arrested two youths and one adult.

A 21 year old Owen Sound man faces criminal charges for theft and possession of stolen property.

A youth faces charges for possession of stolen property, fail to comply with probation (2 Counts) and fail to comply with Recognizance of bail.

A second youth was referred to the Y Diversion Program in lieu of criminal charges.

Police are reminding residents are to always lock their vehicle when unattended, not leave valuables in their vehicles and to notify the Owen Sound Police Service if they see suspicious persons or activity in their neighbourhoods.
