Tragic Civic Holiday Long Weekend

OPP say it was the deadliest Civic long weekend on provincial roads in seven years.

The Civic Holiday long weekend was a tragic one on our roads, the deadliest in seven years, according to the OPP.

Two children were among the six people who died on OPP-patrolled roads over the holiday weekend.

Two motorcyclists were also killed,  a 28 year old man died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 400 in Waubaushene, and A man was killed in a wrongway crash on Highway 404.

Provincial police said they laid over 500 Move Over charges during the Move Over campaign,  a crackdown on motorists who don't make way for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road.

There were over 85-hundred traffic-related charges laid.

Of those, over 5,000 were for speeding.
