The outdoor pool at Harrison Park in Owen Sound re-opens today.
City officials say the first swim of the season goes Tuesday afternoon.
The pool had been closed since the end of the 2017 swimming season for renovations.
Director of Community Services Pam Coulter says the project included decommissioning and filling in the deep pool which now serves as a leisure area with picnic tables.
The pool has been completely refurbished and modernized along with the pool change house and washrooms. A new fully accessible, family change room has been added as well. A ramp now provides for access for all to the pool.
The shallow pool has been completely refurbished, with a brand new liner, new mechanical and plumbing systems and a ramp to increase accessibility.
Updates were also done to the change house to make it more energy efficient and the addition of a family/accessible changeroom.
Coulter says the total cost of the project comes in at $432,884 which she notes is slightly over budget.
She expects the life span of the pool retrofit to be about 25 years.
The outdoor heated pool will remain open until Sept. 2.
Owen Sound offers free summer swims on Wednesday, Thursdays and Sundays in partnership with a number of local businesses and organizations.
