Tobermory | by Kevin Bernard

The pilot decided to abort, and his small plane ran out of runway.

Four people suffered minor injuries in a plane crash at Tobermory.

It happened on Canada Day just before 8pm.

Bruce Peninsula OPP say a white "Piper Warrior" was trying to take off from the Tobermory Airport when the 50-year-old Kitchener man who was piloting the plane decided to abort the take off.

The plane slid sideways off the end of the runway and came to rest on its roof.

Police were assisted at the scene by Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The four people on the plane all suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by EMS.

OPP say the plane had significant damage as a result of the collision.

This is the second plane crash reported this year at the Tobermory Airport.
