The Economic Development Officer for Huron East is hoping the expansion of bike lanes in her municipality catches on, county-wide.
A series of bike lanes was recently announced for Seaforth, connecting many of the town's businesses and landmarks.
Jan Hawley tells Country 104.9 News she would like to see the paving of bike lanes throughout Huron County.
Members of Huron County council have, in the past, expressed interest in paved highway shoulders, to allow for better bicycle access around Ontario's West Coast.
The move, however, would cost additional dollars in added asphalt coverage when re-paving regional highways.
Part of the funding for the future bike paths in Seaforth was provided through the provincial Gas Tax Fund.
Hawley says there will be public consultations before the bike lanes are paved in Seaforth.
She also hopes to have more bicycle access throughout Huron East in the coming years, as well.
