Hanover, Walkerton Celebrate Canada Day

Hanover | by Robyn Garvey

Events begin this morning in both communities

There is no shortage of patriotic pride in either Hanover or Walkerton today.

Both communities have a number of Canada Day festivities and events to
participate in.

In Hanover the fun begins at 10:30 am at Heritage Square which has been
transformed into a mini Canadian carnival.

Recreation Director Sherri Walden says there is so much to see and do for the
whole family.

This includes live entertainment, a BBQ. Musical performances as well as
dance and kung fu demonstrations.

For the kids they have the Children’s Carnival, complete: with inflatables,
balloon animals, face painting, crafts and activities as well as a clown and
free birthday cake for everyone.

Back by popular demand is the cemetery tours which begins at 2:30
pm.

This is led by local historian Al Morrow who’s storytelling abilities will
bring to life some of the stories of Hanover’s earliest settlers.

After all of that, you can cool down with a free swim at the Aquatic Centre
from 3 till 4:30 pm.

In Walkerton, the fun begins at 11:30 am at the Walkerton Centennial
Park.

This includes free hotdogs and cake, free face paining and a number of
children’s activities.

This will be followed by a free swim from 2 until 3:30 pm at the Centennial
Park Pool.

Walden encourages the public to put their red and white on and come join in
the festivities.
