Officer injured After Crash With Drunk Driver

A Durham woman is facing impaired charges after colliding head on with a Hanover Police Cruiser

A Hanover Police Officer suffered minor injuries after a head on collision with an alleged drunk driver.

Just before 6:30 Saturday night, officers were called to the the McDonald's parking lot about a collision involving a suspected drunk driver.

However, the driver fled the scene before police arrived.

A short time later, an officer spotted the damaged vehicle and suspect on County Road 4 at the intersection of County Road 3.

The vehicle was traveling slow when a HPS cruiser attempted to block it from moving forward.

The suspect continued to drive west bound and struck another cruiser head on.

The suspect, a 40 year old Durham woman ,failed a breathalyzer and has been charged with impaired driving. She has been released from custody and will appear in a Walkerton court room in July.

She was not hurt in the collision.

The officer was taken to Hanover and District Hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

Hanover police say they are continuing their investigation and expect further failing to remain at the scene charges to be laid for at least two collisions. They are also looking into other similar failing to remain reports in Hanover.

West Grey Police are also looking into similar failing to remain reports.
