Goderich | by Fadi Didi

Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron to have speakers, performances along Goderich Beach Wednesday.

Goderich will be the site where the Multicultural Association of Perth-Huron recognizes World Refugee Day.

June 20th of each year is recognized by the United Nations as a day to commemorate the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees.

Multicultural Association spokesperson Geza Wordofa says a Syrian refugee, who now calls Canada home, will be speaking at Wednesday's event.

Wordofa says language is a priority for new Canadians who choose to reside in Huron and Perth.

He tells Country 104.9 News newcomers to rural Ontario often have difficulty finding services to meet their needs, and often require rides from volunteers with his association.

World Refugee Day will be observed Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Pavilion #3 at the Goderich Beach, and is free to attend.
