Big Brothers Big Sisters Holds AGM

There will be an update on program expansions, new community partnerships and other goals.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Owen Sound will celebrate some local heroes this weekend.

They'll hold their Annual General Meeting on Friday, June 1st, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at The Harmony Centre in Owen Sound.

There will be wine and cheese tasting, and a keynote address by motivational speaker Alyssa Light, owner of The Profitable Innovator. She'll talk about the importance of investing in youth and connecting with millennials.

Volunteers will be recognized for their years of service ranging from five to 30 years.

Last year, former MPP Bill Murdoch was recognized with a lifetime achievement award for over 30 years of support to Big  Brothers of Owen Sound.

At the meeting, there will be an update on program expansions, new community partnerships and  other goals.

Executive Director Jennifer Miller says "The AGM offers a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in Big Brothers Big Sisters to come and see what our agency has to offer, ask questions and meet the Board of Directors and staff."

While there, you can register for the charity Golf Fore for Kids Sake tournament on July 14th, or donate to support program delivery.

The Big Dreams Westjet Cares for Kids draw for two airline tickets anywhere Westjet regularly flies will also be held at the meeting.
