All six candidates for the Huron-Bruce riding in the June 7th provincial election participated in a live radio show debate on Bayshore Broadcasting's AM 560 CFOS Tuesday morning.
Gerrie Huenemoerder of the Alliance Party, Jan Johnstone of the NDP, Liberal Candidate Don Matheson, Libertarian Ron Stephens, PC incumbent Lisa Thompson and Green Party Candidate Nicholas Wendler took part.
Topics of discussion included improving healthcare, long term care beds, access to doctors in rural areas, provincial funding and cutting day surgeries at the hospital in Southampton.
Candidates also debated energy issues including the high cost of Hydro, green energy including wind energy, natural gas expansion in the area, and nuclear energy.
Candidates took a stance on hiking or cutting taxes and minimum wage increases with some also addressing the price of gas.
Another debate is set for 7:30 tonight at the Teeswater-Culross Community Centre.
On Wednesday, there will be a debate hosted by the Huron County Chamber of Commerce at 7 p.m. at the Lakeshore United Church, in Goderich.
