VLC Eviction Order Still Not Enforced In Owen Sound.

Owen Sound | by Matt Hermiz

Officials hope to find new mortgage lender in order to avoid closure of the homeless centre.

Residents of Victorious Living Centre's emergency shelter in Owen Sound have yet to face eviction.

Pastor Randy Kennedy, who operates the shelter, says no sheriff has come yet to enforce the court-ordered eviction tied to a mortgage dispute.

The notice told occupants they would be evicted May 23rd at 9 a.m.

Kennedy says there has been no further communication from authorities since the eviction notice was issued.

Meanwhile he is hopeful that private mortgage money might be arranged soon at a lower rate then the current mortgage, which Kennedy says would allow the Shelter to stay open.

Ray Botten, a shelter resident, plans to resist the eviction along with others who stay at what's known as "The Sanctuary" at 748 2nd Avenue East.

He says they are not barricaded inside, but they have locked the door and they remain on high alert.
