Flyers Hand Out Awards

Forward Trent Michie is named MVP; Forward Chase Meurs picks up two honours

The Provincial Junior Hockey League's Goderich Flyers have officially ended their 2017-18 season by honouring their best.

The Most Valuable Player award was taken by forward Trent Michie, who scored 10 goals and 20 points through 39 games.

Forward Chase Meurs is the club's Top Scorer and Rookie of the Year, in addition to being named the PJHL Pollock Division Rookie of the Month for January.

Meurs scored seven of his 15 goals on the power play, and he amassed 37 points in 39 games.

The Flyers' top Defenceman is Wyatt Carey, while Mitch Fisher picked up the Heart Award for dedication and work ethic.

The Future Leadership Award goes to forward Zac Hammell, who was voted to the honour by the team's overage players.

The Flyers finished in sixth place in the PJHL Pollock Division last season, with seven wins, 29 losses and four overtime losses.

The awards were handed out in Dungannon on the weekend.
