The unemployment rate in our area slid down half a percent to 4.4 percent in April.
Figures from the Four county Labour Market Planning board show there was an overall decline of some 400 full-time and 200 part time jobs in the month.
The biggest drop in employment was in the goods-producing sector by some 12 hundred jobs, but Manufacturing jobs increased by 2 thousand.
There were also job gains in transportation, professional and public administration jobs.
The Four County Labour Market Planning Board covers from Tobermory to Stratford and includes Grey, Bruce, Huron and Perth counties.
Across Ontario, the unemployment rate was unchanged in April at 5.7 percent.
