The 20th anniversary of the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation is being marked by the conference at the Oakwood Resort Thursday and Friday.
The Centre's Executive Director Erinn Lawrie tells us for the first time, the non-profit organization is stretching the biennial conference over two days.
As well as experts speaking on issues affecting the Great Lakes, the co-founder of the Lake Huron Centre will be the keynote speaker at tonight's 20th anniversary gala.
Patrick Donnelly will address Great Lakes environmental advocacy.
The conference will look at issues like water levels on the Lakes, which have increased rapidly from near-record lows earlier this decade.
An exhibition of underwater shipwreck images from throughout the Great Lakes, taken by an award-winning photographer will be shown throughout the two days of the event.
