McDonalds Surpasses McHappy Day Goals Around the Region

Regional | by Travis Jackson

Local charities will benefit from the generous donations of patrons.

McHappy Day in Grey Bruce yesterday (May 2nd)  was a success.

Between the McDonalds in Port Elgin, Owen Sound and Meaford $19,427 was raised in total.

That means they beat the Goal of $18,000.

The money will be used locally to buy baby bassinets for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.

The Highway 21 location surpassed their goal by raising $17,833.

We're told that over $6,500 of funds raised came from the various raffles, draws, and games that the Kincardine location organizes every year.

Money raised at the Kincardine location will go to support Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Lynn Grinstead is a manager at Kincardine McDonalds, and says that she has a personal connection to Ronald McDonald House.

Lynn's granddaughter, 5-year-old Kathryn MacLennan, was diagnosed with leukemia at the end of May 2017. Without the help of Ronald McDonald House, it would have been a massive financial burden on her family. Thankfully, Kathryn is doing much better now.

Lynn wore a shirt to show her support for Kathryn at the event yesterday.
