No Noticeable Changes Expected When Mid-Huron Landfill Closes

Regional | by Fadi Didi

Landfill official says curbside pickup will continue, with the landfill still accepting some waste.

You shouldn't notice any changes, when the Mid-Huron Landfill in Holmesville closes.

We learned in October the landfill would stop accepting municipal waste en masse, as of June 30th.

Goderich Chief Administrative Officer Larry McCabe is also the secretary of the landfill board.

McCabe tells us the hazardous waste depot will continue to operate on limited hours.

For contractors needing to dispose of construction materials, those services will still be available.

Municipalities and businesses who used the Holmesville landfill will no longer have access for dump truck deliveries.

McCabe says that will not affect your weekly curbside garbage pickup.

Huron East and Central Huron also recently negotiated new curbside collection contracts.
