Huron-Bruce MPP Proposes "Great Lakes Day"

Huron-Bruce | by Fadi Didi

Progressive Conservative Lisa Thompson proposed the day be recognized June 7th.

The MPP for Huron-Bruce is proposing Ontario celebrate Great Lakes Day.

Progressive Conservative Lisa Thompson tabled the legislation this week at Queen's Park.

Thompson's proposed legislation would recognize Great Lakes Day on June 7th each year in Ontario.

Over 8 million Canadians rely on the five lakes as their primary source for fresh water.

Thompson says having a day celebrating the lakes would provide a chance for all Ontarians to promote and practice conservation efforts for one of the world's greatest natural resources.
