Ontario's 'Sunshine List' of public sector employees earning $100,000 or more per year has been released, and more than 50 municipal staff, police officers and firefighters from Owen Sound made the list in 2017.
According to the salary disclosure list, the city's top cop was also its highest paid public employee. Owen Sound police chief Bill Sornberger earned $177,948 last year.
In all, 27 police officers surpassed the century-mark for earnings in 2017.
Among the seven Sunshine List earners at city hall, City Manager Wayne Ritchie made the most at $163,600.
Fire Captain Kenneth Lawrence was Owen Sound's highest paid firefighter among the 18 listed, at $126,165.
Doug Barfoot was paid $123,760 for his role of Fire Chief.
Also on the list earning from city coffers were Chief Librarian Timothy Nicholls-Harrison and former Chief Curator of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery Virginia Eichhorn.
For other municipalities in the area, Meaford had three Sunshine List earners. The highest paid public employee was CAO Denyse Morrissey at $151,829. Director of Development and Environmental Services Robert Armstrong was at $118 thousand, the same amount as Treasurer and Director of Financial Services and Infrastructure Management Darcy Chapman.
CAO David A. Smith made the most among public employees of the Town of Saugeen Shores at nearly $180 thousand. The list included 25 people, including 17 cops. Chief of Police Dan Rivett made the most among Saugeen Shores Police last year: $146,352.
Saugeen Shores Fire Chief Phil Eagleson earned $115,207.
Two municipal staff at the Township of Georgian Bluffs were listed over $100,000, Acting CAO Richard Winters at just under $171,000 and Director of Finance Kassandra Rocca at $101 thousand.
