Chepstow is throwing a party and volunteers are needed.
It is all part of the upcoming Chepstow Homecoming celebration that is taking place this August Civic weekend. (August 3 to 6th)
Spokesperson Bill Clancy says the four day event will include parades, dances, dinners, musical entertainment, baking competitions, children’s activities, refreshments, fireworks and of course baseball.
Chepstow is so well know for its baseball that the slogan for the homecoming celebration is ‘Swing By Chepstow’.
The homecoming festivities coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Chepstow Aces intermediate baseball team, one of the longest standing ball teams in Ontario.
To mark the event there will also be a Chepstow Aces reunion with ball players from across Ontario and some coming from as far away as the States as well.
Along with volunteers, sponsors are always welcomed. Anyone interested in helping out can visit the Chepstow Homecoming online page.
As for the host municipality of Brockton, organizers are not requesting a monetary donation but rather in-kind donations.
This includes free use of picnic tables, chairs, traffic barriers, dump passes and other needed amenities.
Homecoming Committee member Vic Morris says this is going to be the best Homecoming celebration yet.
Morris adds this is long overdue as it has been sixteen years since the last time Chepstow threw a homecoming party. (2002)
Clancy and Morris invite all those with Chepstow roots along with anyone else who wants to join in the festivities to mark their calendars this Civic Weekend as Chepstow calls everyone home.
