Kincardine PRIDE Gets Support

Kincardine | by Craig Power

Local chapter of the Society of United Professionals is showing its support for Kincardine PRIDE.

A local chapter of the Society of United Professionals (formerly known as the Society of Energy Professionals) is showing its support for Kincardine PRIDE.

The group has come on board as a major sponsor for this year's Pride Festival, with a generous donation of $3,000.

Mike Gade, Vice President of the local Bruce Power Chapter, says inclusiveness and fairness are very important values among unions.

"When we saw the local Pride Events starting up, we thought that's a great way of supporting the community and also supporting fairness and inclusion in our community," says Gade.

Known as the society of Energy Professionals last year, Gade says they took part in Kincardine's first ever Pride Parade and Festivities and were very impressed and overwhelmed at the amazing turnout.

For Gade and the rest of the local Society, making a generous donation was an easy decision.

"Seeing how important this was to the community, we really wanted to participate at a good level to make sure that event runs well and gives a lot of good support back to the community," adds Gade.

People from all walks of life were in attendance at the inaugural Kincardine Pride Festival last year (2017) and even more are expected to participate this year.

The 2018 Kincardine Pride Festival is set to go on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at 11:00am in Kincardine.
