Students at Lambton College were recognized for an agricultural project in Zambia.
Awards were handed to students at the 2018 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition in Mississauga.
One group captured the top entrepreneurship prize for helping to expand a peanut butter factory in Zambia, increasing sales of peanuts from $300 a hectare to more than $6 thousand.
Students also taught 150 new Zambian trainers the techniques of no-till farming.
Meantime, Lambton College was recognized as runner-up for an EcoLiving prize for highlighting waste reduction among three new drip irrigation systems at local schools across rural Zambia.
The installation the drip irrigation systems has allowed the African schools to grow canola, cabbage, tomatoes, peanuts, watermelon, and banana trees for the first time.
