A member of Goderich Council says a comprehensive policy should be in place, to cover outdoor weddings in the summer.
Councillor Trevor Bazinet voiced his concern Monday, when a letter came before Council asking for permission for a wedding to be held on Goderich Pier in early August.
A recommendation is that the request be denied, because of potential safety concerns.
The applicant wants the pier location, so the couple can have the sun setting behind them.
Bazinet believes high water levels and activity at the harbour could pose a safety hazard.
He suggests alternate locations like Bingham Park, or other places within sight of the shore where couples could still have the benefit of the sunset.
Bazinet says Goderich benefits from outdoor weddings, and needs an overall approach on where to hold them.
The application has been tabled until Council's next meeting on March 19th.
