Play Time Makes A Comeback

I'm so excited to see a resurgence of gaming.

No, not video games, we all know they've been popular for years. Many of you probably can't pry the controllers from your kids' hands.

No I mean board games.

You know, the good old fashioned "Colonel Mustard did it in the library with a knife".

Clue is one of my favourites and there's a few different updated versions.

What about operation or Connect 4 or a more challenging modern version, Connect 4 by 4. It's got a double grid so you're working two sides at once to try to win at tick tack toe.

I've been hearing lately of a few places that offer areas to play these board games.

The coolest idea to me is a place in west end Toronto called Snakes and Ladders.

Instead of offering up specials and dish recommendations, your server will recommend which of the 25 hundred games you should start with like maybe a word game before perhaps advancing to a game of strategy that will keep you going for hours.

And apparently some patrons have received parking tickets because they have lost track of time playing the games.

Who says games aren't social.

My friend and I turn the mundane chore of going to the laundromat into a game night.

She always brings her Skippo and sometimes Uno.

The card games don't take a lot of thought and one game of Skippo usually lasts through an entire wash and dry cycle.

Board games are also a great way to bring families together so everyone can feel like a kid again.

Long live playtime!
